The Obama administration has put in place regulations that would make automakers almost double the average gas mileage of new cars and trucks by 2025. The new regulations would see average gas mileage rise from 28.6 miles per gallon to 54.5 miles per gallon. The measures aim to reduce dependency on foreign oil and cut greenhouse gas emissions while also creating new jobs within the auto industry.
